What about me?

For those of you wondering why the weaker subclasses (watermark of binshou, ACTIVATE!) have not been tweaked yet, the answer is simple - I'm not focusing on subclasses yet. Currently, I'm sticking to main classes and content development.

Why am I doing main classes apart from subclasses? That's another easy answer - the one-time-no-practice-loss-adaptation deadline. Everyone has an unpenalized adaptation only through August 1st, and so I'm trying to touch up the main classes as much as possible before that deadline. Subclass tweaking will come afterwards. =)

  1. Just for clarification, after August 1st change to a subclass will not incur penalty?

  2. No. Subclass changes have no penalty as it is right now. See 'help adaptation'.

  3. Well it brings me no joy to hear that. but i'll accept what has been brought forth and thank you for shedding light on what the progress is. That's all i wanted to know - that immortals are taking notice on the lesser areas and is some where on their plate and not scattered on the floor. Thank you.

  4. While most appreciate the base class changes if you know of a subclass that has an awesome ability that just needs a tweak or two-- wouldn't it be quicker to change that first?

If someone say wanted to class change to Tloh Monk because they think it sounds awesome and aren't exactly concerned with being SuperDude but would just like a working subclass ability shouldn't they get that ability to see the subclass become useful?

If the change is to help encourage players to stick to 1 class shouldn't that even include subclasses?

Me personally I can change to say Darkhand Monk and wait for Tloh monk to get buffed/tweaked/what have you but maybe someone else will end up going another class because it gets attention instead of the class they really want.

Im no super coder or anything- just throwing out another side of the coin here. Great work and that new paladin ability is very very cool.

  5. Well, given that the subclass changes will be without the skill penalty, it really does make sense that as long as a class has one viable subclass, that's the class a person would choose. Understand that the deadline only affects individuals with substantial practice investments; these people are presumably experienced enough to make the same decision as you: pick a worthy subclass, and switch later on.

But picking the overall class depends a great deal on its baseline power, and so I think it does make more sense to concentrate solely on class-defining abilities.

I'm just a little nervous that all the changes are going to come in before the deadline, given all the things Whim's working on at the moment. Between the divide, the scar, and all the random stuff he's going to come up with between now and end, I think we're going to see heavy-duty changes coming in for long time.

  6. Yeah- we can't really have a subclass get 25x same stat followers and then 2 weeks later the base class gets a 5x damage modifier :)

I am concerned that Class stuff will get left in the rears before the deadline- but Whim has done a good job so far of balancing it so we shall see. If push comes to shove im sure Nijlo would be willing to extended the deadline a few days so Whim could get a few final changes in and give players something to think about.

If I was any other player who hasn't been every class and race then I would want plenty of time to weigh my options (a month would be nice) however I just don't see that happening. So I think if someone might want to class change they should start looking into what they want and then prepare for the joy ride that is now essentially being tied to 1 class.

  7. On that note, I now have so many alts I've lost count. At least I can still count the number of major remort chars on one hand.

  8. Yes alts truely will be the way to go and for those of use with a handful of various ones that are atleast major remorts will be able to get some resemblance of class changing, after all maxing them out is easy and then its just a matter of passing around crafted EQ to them.

Every other game requires players to have alts if they want to branch out- why should we be so different?

While the inner me who likes to class change just to have fun does not agree with the change, my brain tells me it is okay and needed :( Stupid brain!
